Objective

This 2-Wheel Basic Rider Course helps beginners develop confidence, control, and defensive riding strategies while learning to safely operate a two-wheel motorcycle. Gain skills for motorcycle endorsement and beginner motorcycle training.

Course Description

This 16-hour motorcycle training course combines online learning, classroom instruction, and in-person riding practice. It provides the most information about safety and road skills and includes an online eCourse, in-person discussions, and riding. Students will be required to complete the online eCourse which includes topics on selecting proper riding gear, preparing to ride, motorcycle controls, pre-ride inspection, defensive riding strategies, positioning, and how to handle a variety of riding situations. During the training the student will discuss various topics including situational awareness, risk reduction, traffic “traps”, driving tendencies, perception, mental processing, visual acuity and reaction time. During the course a student will learn the “SEE” principle which will be helpful when identifying traffic controls / roadway features, highway users, surface conditions and escape paths.

In-Person Riding:

During the in-person riding the student will become familiar with the motorcycle and will start off learning the friction zone, straight-line riding, clutch-throttle control, turning, shifting and stopping. The student will gradually progress to cornering and cornering judgement, swerving, maximum effective braking techniques, obstacle avoidance and maneuvers. Throughout the course the instructors will evaluate and coach each rider’s performance.

Course Conclusion:

The course concludes with a skill test, knowledge test, course evaluation and overall course wrap-up.

Motorcycles and Gear:

Motorcycles are available for use and are included in the course fee. Riders must have the appropriate riding gear, which includes a DOT certified helmet (PA requires helmet to be open-face / three-quarter or full-face helmet), eye protection, long sleeve shirt or jacket, full-fingered gloves, long pants (no ripped jeans, sweat pants or other soft material) and sturdy over-the-ankle footwear.

Objective

This 3-Wheel Basic Rider Course teaches beginners to safely operate a three-wheel motorcycle. Build balance, stability, and defensive riding skills while gaining confidence in handling a 3-wheel motorcycle.

Course Description

This 12-hour motorcycle training course provides the most information about safety and road skills for 3-wheel motorcycles. It combines classroom instruction and hands-on riding practice. During the course, students discuss various topics including different types of risk, preparing to ride, protective gear, motorcycle controls, pre-ride inspection and basic riding skills. Students will also learn street strategies, positioning, mental processing, and how to handle special riding situations. They will learn the “SEE” principle, which is helpful when identifying traffic controls/roadway features, highway users, surface conditions, and escape paths.

In-Person Riding

During the in-person riding, students will become familiar with the motorcycle and will start off learning straight-line riding, throttle control, turning and stopping. Students will gradually progress to maximum effective braking techniques, obstacle avoidance and maneuvers, cornering and cornering judgement, swerving and stopping quickly. Throughout the course, instructors will evaluate and coach each rider’s performance.

Course Conclusion

The course concludes with a skill test, knowledge test, course evaluation and overall course wrap-up.

Riders must have the appropriate riding gear, which includes a DOT certified helmet (PA requires helmet to be open-face / three-quarter or full-face helmet), eye protection, long sleeve shirt or jacket, full-fingered gloves, long pants (no ripped jeans, sweat pants or other soft material) and sturdy over-the-ankle footwear.
